Urgently overcoming the consequences caused by natural disasters in Duc Linh district
(binhthuan.gov.vn) According
to Duc Linh District People's Committee, on the nights of August 7 and August
11, heavy rain, floods, and local tornadoes occurred and caused heavy damage to
agriculture and transportation infrastructure. Total damage value is estimated
more than 1.7 billion VND.
Specifically, on
the night of August 7, very heavy rain in the mountainous areas of communes: Me
Pu (Duc Linh district) and Duc Phu and Duc Thuan (Tanh Linh district) caused
local flooding on Ta Pua stream in village 7 and Tre stream in village 8, Me Pu
commune, making the DT 717 (village 7 - Ta Pua) eroded on the positive slope
with a length of 30m, about 450m3 of soil and rock on the top of the
hill slid down the road surface, causing traffic disruption; completely
collapsed an intra-field traffic bridge made of reinforced concrete (Ong Khoa
bridge, Suoi Tre area, village 8, Me Pu commune) and completely eroded and
washed away the bridge abutment and adjacent road part (6m long) of the civil bridge
in village 7, Me Pu commune (iron bridge number 5). In addition, floods also
caused iron bridge No. 3 to erode the upstream slope of the bridge with a
length of 06m, which is at risk of further erosion, causing unsafety for the
project due to the currents and iron bridge No. 4 is slightly eroded at 02 ends
of the bridge abutment, there is a risk of further erosion if a major flood
occurs in the near future (belonging to the civil bridge in village 7, Me Pu commune).
Estimated damage value is about 623 million VND.
Floods eroded the civil roads and
bridges
On the night of
August 7, strong tornadoes along the slopes of Ta Pua Pass completely damaged
an area of more than 9 hectares of perennial crops such as durian, rubber,
pepper, and cashew in villages 4, 5, and 8, Me Pu commune, Duc Linh district,
the damage value is estimated at more than 1.1 billion VND.
Broken perennial trees cannot be recovered
Immediately after
the natural disaster occurred, the locality has quickly implemented measures to
overcome the consequences. In particular, for the landslides on DT 717 (Ta Pua
pass section), the Commune People's Committees of Me Pu and Duc Phu coordinated,
mobilized forces to warn and guide traffic safety; At the same time, coordinating
with the Provincial Department of Transport to mobilize on-site workers and
vehicles to drill rocks and move obstacles so that the road was cleared at
11:00 a.m. on August 8, 2024.
Currently, Duc
Linh District People's Committee has proposed to the Provincial Steering
Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, relevant
departments and agencies to consider urgent support to overcome traffic and
agricultural damage so that people quickly settle down.
