Urgently remedying damages caused by strong winds and tornadoes in hamlet 1, Ham Can commune

(binhthuan.gov.vn) The Office of the Provincial Standing Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue has just made a quick report on the damages caused by strong winds and tornadoes in hamlet 1, Ham Can commune, Ham Thuan Nam district.

Specifically, on February 21, 2023, household Mang Van Den (village 1, Ham Can commune) arranged a wedding theater for his son; at 11:45 a.m., when the wedding ceremony was taking place, suddenly strong winds and tornadoes occurred locally. The whirlwind made 1/2 of the wedding dome to fly up high and entangled to the 3-phase medium voltage electricity lines, causing an electrical contact leading to a line to be broken, and at the same time the dome collapsed causing injury to some people attending the wedding. As a result, there were 08 injured people (07 severe and 01 mild) and about 20 people with minor scratches (due to the dome flying up high then collapsing on the tables).

Immediately upon receiving information about the tornado, the Ham Can Commune People's Committee directed the Commune Police to notify the electricity power to conduct a power outage on the affected area; coordinated with people to quickly bring 08 injured people to Ham Can General Clinic for first aid, then 07 people were transferred to Binh Thuan Provincial General Hospital. Ham Can Commune People's Committee also protected the scene, took statements from related people and assisted in cleaning up and overcoming the consequences of the cyclone.

On the morning of February 22, 2023, the Division of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ham Thuan Nam district coordinated with relevant agencies and units of the district, together with the People's Committee of Ham Can commune to inspect and verify the damage situation to report to the District People's Committee for further direction; at the same time, visited and encouraged the injured people.
