(binhthuan.gov.vn) According to the Office
of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control,
Search and Rescue, the area of Phan Thiet city occurred heavy rain in the
early October 2021 (especially from 07 to 10 and afternoon on 14/10/2021) at
the downstream area of drainage works of DT 706 – Drain No. 2 & 3, Ham Tien
ward, causing landslides and sand spills.
The reason is counted for the
rainwater drainage system at Drain No. 2 & 3 has not been connected, when
it rains heavily, the amount of non-drainable water flows to the connection
area causing overflow, via the trail it flows to downstream area, taking with
it sand spills and landslides in the area. The intensity and range of influence
are small.
As a result, the people's fences were
completely broken and collapsed with about 10m length and 02m height (the total
length of the fence that collapsed due to the influence of heavy rain from
September 28, 2021 to now is 40m); causing inundation, sand spills to some
agricultural crops areas of local people; at the same time, it continues to
deepen creating flood flows in the land area of people. It causes potential
dangers to the life and property of local people when heavy rain occurs.
Currently, the People's Committee of
Phan Thiet city has directed the PC of Ham Tien ward to install sandbags to
block the flow, reduce the flow of water to the downstream in order to minimize
the amount of sand and water spilling into people's houses. Phan Thiet City PC
also proposes the Provincial People's Committee to direct functional sectors to
soon to connect the drainage system into Drain No. 2 & 3 in the area, so
that rainwater is collected to the drainage system, ensuring the safety of life
and property of local people.
