(binhthuan.gov.vn) The Drug Administration (Ministry of Health)
has just issued an official dispatch to the Departments of Health of provinces
and centrally governed cities regarding counterfeit Theophylline 200mg.
To
ensure safety for users, the Drug Administration requests the Departments of
Health of provinces and centrally governed cities, as well as health
authorities of other sectors, to inform drug businesses and users about
counterfeit medicines labeled as: Theophylline 200mg Tablets (Theophylin
200mg), manufactured by Pharmacy Laboratories Plus (Warszawa), with no
information about the registration number and/or drug approval number on the
label.
Following
the direction of the Drug Administration (Ministry of Health), the Department
of Health of Bình Thuận Province has issued an official dispatch requiring
healthcare facilities, drug businesses, and users to refrain from selling,
distributing, or using the batch of drugs labeled as: Theophylline 200mg Tablets
(Theophylin 200mg), manufactured by Pharmacy Laboratories Plus (Warszawa), with
no information about the registration number and/or drug approval number on the
label. Pharmaceutical companies and district, town, and city health centers are
also required to inform the units under their direct management to take action
accordingly.
The
Department of Health also requested the Provincial Center for Disease Control
to cooperate with media agencies to inform the public to avoid using the
counterfeit THEOPHYLLINE 200mg mentioned above; to only buy and sell medicines
at licensed drug establishments; not to buy or sell medicines of unknown
origin; and to promptly report any suspicious signs of counterfeit drugs or
drugs of unclear origin to the Department of Health and relevant authorities.
The
Drug, Cosmetics, and Food Testing Center should increase sample collection and
quality testing of drugs circulating in the area, particularly those at risk of
being counterfeit or of poor quality. The center must promptly report any
detected cases to the Department of Health and relevant authorities.
The
Department of Health's Inspectorate, upon receiving information or discovering
counterfeit drug samples with the aforementioned labeling, must proactively and
promptly report to the Provincial 389 Steering Committee and coordinate with
relevant authorities to inspect drug businesses in the area, investigate and
verify information, and trace the origin of the counterfeit THEOPHYLLINE 200mg.
Strict actions should be taken against organizations and individuals violating
current regulations. Futhermore, efforts should be made to promptly detect and
prevent the production, sale, and use of counterfeit THEOPHYLLINE 200mg. The
results of inspections and violation handling should be reported to the Drug
Administration (if any).
The
Department of Health has also announced a hotline (phone number 02523.830.670)
to receive information about counterfeit drugs, smuggled drugs, and drugs of
unknown origin in the province, in order to promptly collaborate with relevant
authorities to verify and address the cases.
