On the morning of March 16, the Union of Science and Technology Associations in
collaboration with the Provincial Consumer Protection Association held a workshop
on "Safe consumption in digital transformation".
Workshop
is aim to response to the activities of Vietnam Consumer Rights Day in Binh
Thuan 2023; At the same time, to inform several skills and methods on safe
online shopping for consumers.
Currently,
along with the change in the trend of consumers’ behavior of searching for
information, purchasing goods and services, non-cash payment forms are growing
and being applied more and more in social life. In particular, since the appearance
of the COVID-19 epidemic, the shopping way of a large part of consumers has
also changed significantly. Instead of shopping at markets, supermarkets,
stores ... many consumers switch to online shopping, choosing good quality
products with clear origin ...

Speaking
at the workshop, Mr. Luong Thanh Son – Chairman of Union of Science and
Technology Associations said: To carry out digital transformation, Binh Thuan
province has issued Resolution No. 10-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee
on digital transformation to 2025, with orientation to 2030, Plan No.
1282/KH-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee on implementing Resolution
No. 10-NQ/TU. On that basis, departments, agencies and localities have
implemented many transformation solutions for management and administration to
serve socio-economic development, including people (consumers).
The
Chairman of the Union of Science and Technology Associations also informed: In
recent years, businesses and suppliers have adapted to new consumption trends
by changing the form of purchase, sale and delivery; improving product quality,
design, reducing product costs, etc. to meet the requirements of consumers.
However, the implementation of payment transactions via online on cyberspace
still carries many risks for consumers such as being easily scammed or having
risks when making payments or buying poor quality products.…

At
the Workshop, the representative of the Provincial Consumer Protection
Association presented a presentation on the coordination with relevant
authorities in building and propagating for consumers in digital transformation
and orientation for participation in the future; the representative of the
Department of Industry and Trade presented several results on the digital
transformation of the industry in serving the socio-economic in general,
protecting the interests of consumers in particular and the digital
transformation orientation of the industry; representative of the Provincial
Market Surveillance informed about digital transformation in market surveillance
of the unit in recent years and solutions to prevent poor quality goods,
counterfeit goods in cyberspace, etc. At that time, the delegates also heard
the representative of Co.opmart Phan Thiet share some experience for consumers on
ensuring the safety of e-commerce.
